Action conditions for organising an event or promotion

We are extremely grateful to everyone who organises an action or event labelled Pink Ribbon for KWF Kankerbestrijding. With the Pink Ribbon label, KWF Kankerbestrijding aims to prevent breast cancer, treat it better and make life after breast cancer as pleasant as possible. Therefore, KWF Kankerbestrijding funds raised with the Pink Ribbon label fund projects and research that contribute to this goal. A lot of money is needed to fund these studies. That's why we would love it if you would help us. To ensure that your action or event matches our mission and objectives, we apply the following conditions:

  • You will take action in aid of KWF Kankerbestrijding with the Pink Ribbon label and you hereby declare that your action or event is in line with our mission: a better and longer life for the breast cancer patient. This means that the action or event does not involve breast cancer risk factors such as alcohol and tobacco. In addition, we do not consider actions and events that focus on nudity or breasts to be appropriate. Erotic or pornographic actions or events are not allowed.
  • You are transparent about any costs incurred and the amount that you contribute to KWF Kankerbestrijding for the Pink Ribbon label with the action or product. The financial transfer takes place within 2 weeks after the end of your event/action.
  • Once you have completed your action, you deposit the proceeds on your action page that you have created on the platform.
  • When you want to communicate something about the contribution or donation to KWF Cancer Control for the Pink Ribbon label, remember that the message should be clear and transparent; how you support KWF Cancer Control and how the donation for the Pink Ribbon label is made. For example: ‘X euros of your registration fee we will donate to KWF Kanberstrijding for the label Pink Ribbon projects’. Or: ‘Per product sold, we will donate X% of the sales price to KWF Kankerbestrijding for the Pink Ribbon label’. If you are unsure about how to communicate about the donation, please contact us at acties@pinkribbon.nl.
  • We have developed an action logo so that you can easily communicate that the action or event is organised on behalf of the Pink Ribbon label. In other words, KWF Kankerbestrijding is the beneficiary for projects labelled Pink Ribbon. If you want to incorporate the ‘Pink Ribbon’ label in the name of the product or event, it is only permitted to use ‘ ... action for Pink Ribbon’. You do not use the KWF logo in your expressions, nor do you use KWF Kankerbestrijding or in action logo of KWF Kankerbestrijding in the name of your action or event. The action logo of the Pink Ribbon label may not be edited and its use is only allowed with our prior permission at acties@pinkribbon.nl.
  • All expressions relating to breast cancer or the Pink Ribbon label and expressions depicting the action logo must be approved by us in writing in advance at acties@pinkribbon.nl.
This is because we take great care in this matter. If necessary, we ask (medical) specialists to assess communications on this subject.Communications must be respectful and factually correct.
Your action or event is organised entirely at your risk.KWF Kankerbestrijding is not liable for any (direct or indirect) (future) damage that you suffer and/or may suffer in connection with your event or action and all that ensues from it.You indemnify KWF Kankerbestrijding against all third-party claims related to your event or action. The indemnification also relates to all (future) damage and/or costs suffered or incurred by another party in connection with such a claim.
  • By organising your event or action, you give KWF Kankerbestrijding permission to use your data for communication and/or recruitment purposes.
If third party/parties or KWF Kankerbestrijding cancel an event due to force majeure, a refund of the entry fee is not possible. Force majeure means that third party/parties or KWF Kankerbestrijding is not to blame for the event not being able to take place. Entry fees or donations paid and involved in the event shall not be refunded in the event of force majeure.
  • Some actions/events may be rejected on the grounds of ‘unsuitable for KWF Kankerbestrijding for the Pink Ribbon label’.
This is for KWF Kankerbestrijding to fill in and determine. If you have any doubts whether your campaign is suitable for the Pink Ribbon label, please contact us on 020-5700 525 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, usual call charges) or email acties@pinkribbon.nl.
  • KWF Kankerbestrijding will process your personal data with great care in accordance with our privacy statement.
  • Depending on the impact and/or size of your action or event, we will draw up an agreement with you.

Tips

  • A (personal) motivation why you have chosen your action(s) for KWF Kankerbestrijding's Pink Ribbon label is very inspiring to read for your clients & relations, or for your family, friends and colleagues. On www.pinkribbon.nl you can find more information about KWF Kankerbestrijding's work with the projects, which have been recruited with the Pink Ribbon label.
  • If you want to use photos or texts of others, remember to ask permission from the photographer, the people in the photo and/or the author of the text.
  • This is in connection with intellectual property rights and the privacy of the people involved.
  • If you hang promotional material in public areas, remember to ask permission for this, if necessary.

Other stipulations

Smoking: Because of its anti-smoking policy and the clear relationship between smoking and cancer, KWF Cancer Relief never wants to be associated with the tobacco industry. Within the framework of your activities, you therefore do not involve organisations operating in the tobacco industry.
Also, you try to portray your action/event as a non-smoking activity.

Pharmaceutical industry: if in any way you involve organisations operating in the pharmaceutical industry in your activities, consultation with KWF Kankerbestrijding is always required. Restraint is also required when collaborating with the cosmetics industry and the ‘commercial medical industry’. If in doubt, consult with the relevant contact person at KWF Cancer Control.

Alternative medicine: cooperation with persons or institutions in the field of alternative medicine is not desirable, consultation with your KWF Cancer Relief contact person is necessary.

Alcohol: given the conflicting interests (alcohol promotion by the industry versus alcohol moderation by KWF Cancer Relief), KWF Cancer Relief does not cooperate with the alcohol industry. If your action or event is co-sponsored by the alcohol industry (like many music events), this responsibility lies with you and not with KWF Kankerbestrijding. The agreement is that the Pink Ribbon label's action vignette will never be displayed next to an alcohol industry expression. No direct relationship can be made between the alcohol industry and the Pink Ribbon label or KWF Kankerbestrijding. Always inform your contact within KWF Cancer Control.

Hazardous (chemical) substances: from KWF Kankerbestrijding's point of view, it is not desirable to cooperate with the (petro)chemical industry. Many companies work with carcinogenic substances. If in doubt, ask your contact person at KWF Cancer Control.

Nutrition: KWF Cancer Control maintains the maxim that there is no such thing as a healthy or unhealthy food but only an (un)healthy diet. Cooperation with the food industry is in most cases in a grey area, which KWF Kankerbestrijding prefers to be left out of. Therefore, be careful never to place the Pink Ribbon label's action vignette with that of a food product. What is possible is sponsorship by, for example, the greengrocer, a baker, etc. If in doubt, ask your contact person.

Other: in addition to the above categories, there are a number of other types of companies that KWF Kankerbestrijding prefers not to work with for various reasons. These include the sex industry, the tattoo and piercing industry (Getting a tattoo or piercing can pose health risks. For Tattoo shops, piercing studios and permanent make-up specialists, it is therefore important that they have a GGD licence that this is done safely. The GGD only issues these after an inspection.), the arms industry, business activities with risks of exploitation of children and women, extreme political movements and forms of discrimination.

In addition, KWF Kankerbestrijding looks at the intentions of the organisers of an action and ensures the integrity of the design of an action.

FYI

KWF Cancer Control never uses the phrase/words ‘fight against breast cancer’.

About 9 people (including men) still die every day from the consequences of breast cancer. All these people would have loved to survive, but, sadly, they did not succeed. Using ‘fight breast cancer’ could give the impression that survival is a choice: if you try hard enough, or fight enough, you could overcome breast cancer. This is painful, especially for those around the deceased. After all, we all know that fighting does not necessarily lead to survival. That is why we do not communicate about the fight against breast cancer.
